I had a totally different idea in mind for the location of this photo shoot. I went to my mom’s house on Saturday just like I do all the time and we had plans to go somewhere in downtown DC to shoot. On this day however the wind was blowing a little hard and her street was filled with cherry blossoms that just started to bloom and it was really overcast. Needless to say it set an amazing backdrop for a photo session and not to mention we didn’t have to do any traveling. The blossoms were a great match for the subtle baby pink in this longline blazer! I love the way the pictures turned out and I have to say that my mom is doing an awesome job for someone who has never taken a picture before this blog!
One of my favorite things to do with styling is pairing pretty girly pieces with something more edgy and causal whether that’s leather and lace, black and baby pink or in this case, this tweed style blazer and patched denim. I absolutely love this jacket! We all know that tweed is very classic and girly but I think this jacket being longer it gives a different vibe. I knew once I saw it I wanted to dress it down but this jacket is so versatile that it can easily be dressed up for church or work. Right now it’s on major sale AND last I checked all sizes are available!!!
Patched jeans are very “on trend” right now and I love this pair from Express! Lately Express has really been coming through with their jeans! They are so comfortable and have just the right amount of stretch. For those that don’t know Express jeans go to a size 18! Check them out!
I also wanted to harden the look up with these gladiator lace up sandals with this block heel! If you guys haven’t see my post on spring shoe trends check it out here. These shoes give the right amount of edge that I wanted but doesn’t over power the look. Finishing it off is my favorite Phillip Lim purse and dark shades!
